Description

And. Here. It. is. The Pit Of 100 Trials, i.e. the big location holding rewards, like a new partner, that's right, a new partner, the guardian Dooplighost, Doopliguard, and super strong enemies, like the secret boss at floor 100, the sentient (if you call a raging, uncontrollable monster sentient) power separated from Shadolance, Shadotail, so lets get it on!

CHARACTERS
Mario - The Hero of our story who needs no introduction.
            Party Members
Kammy Koopa - Bowser's Caretaker and Lead Minion who
teamed up with Mario to rescue Bowser, Peach, and Luigi.
Black NinjaKoopa - The Muscle of the Koopa Bros. and a
Master of the Ninja-Shot Throw. He teams up with Mario
after seeing he's not so bad after all
GoomBert - An Archaeologist/Map-Maker who decided to
assist Mario with his navigation skills after being rescued
from the belly of  a giant Koopa made of sand.
Cocoaknow - The only Coco-Knight to believe Mario's Quest
after He accidentally destroys a Coco-knight statue who
helps Mario gain the Star Key on the Missing Island with
her trap sensing abilities and Trap Sprint. She is also considered
weird by the other Coco-Knights due to decision to wear
a cocoa bean instead of a coconut.
Jade Bulb-Ulb- The oldest living Bulb-Ulb, who protected the
Purple Star Key. That is until Petey Piranha stole it and became
corrupted, spewing her with so much poison that she lost her memory.
With Mario's help, she regained it and helped him reclaim the star key
to save Peach, Luigi and Bowser from the Evil King. Being the oldest
Bulb-Ulb, Jade has Abilities the others don't have, like using her vines
to distract enemies and move them away from her location.
McBoo - A Red Boo and former member of King Boo's division of the
Koopa Troop, the Boo Troop, along with his friends. After Mario rescues
all three of his friends from King Boo, McBoo lends Mario his ghostly
abilities, allowing Mario to save his brother and all the other captives,
                plus get another Star Key.*
BumpTina - The daughter and only child of BumpTed, Bumpty Town's Mayor,
who is a skilled Ballerina and a bit of an adventurer. After Mario convinces her
father that she can come along with the expedition to the Frozen Caverns, he
gives him the responsibility of watching over her, and she lends her slide ability
to Mario to better move about the area.
Commander Tar T. - Commander in charge of the MKSS Mrk II, older brother to
Smar T. and one of the founding families of Toad Town, after ths station goes
haywire and Mario comes up to investigate it and gain the next Star Key, He
teams up with Mario to stop the malfunctioning defense intelligence Dais-E and
the crazy Blooper king Blooperian and gain the last Star Key. He makes use of
his Object Detector to locate hidden objects that one could not see with the naked eye.
Doopliguard - The guardian of the Pit of 100 Trials, a prison for those altered by a dark power
that once belonged to an evil king. He is over 1000 years old, his actual age lost, considering
he's a Dooplighost and they can live for a very long time thanks to the magic in their system
that allows them to disguise themselves as others. Having guarded the pit for 500 years since
the evil king's defeat without being able to leave from its hiding location, he created a few
secret stashes, though who he's keeping them secret from I don't know, carrying rare items
like badges, mushrooms, items etc., and a whole lot of chocolate, cause he has one big of a
        sweet tooth.
Shadotail - The disembodied power of Shadolance, named as such, which manifests itself as
shadowy dragon-like being with wings and fire-breath. It is an uncontrollable monstrosity,
and many people can hear it's roar in the wind. Those that do react in two ways, one, they
just keep walking where they were going and try to forget about it, even through it haunts
their dreams forever more, or two, walk towards it curious, and stumble atop the pit (oddly
enough, all these times Doopliguard is always asleep, bit of a slacker that one), and go into
the pit, where they are consumed by it's evil, and became prisoners of the pit.
Item - Abilities granted from said Item using Star Energy - Ability Cost
Fountain Water - Increases Star Energy by Five points to a single ten point Star Energy Container
Orange Star Key - Gives Mario a Toad army cover and backup for 2 turns - Cost: 1 Star Energy Container
Yellow Star Key - Can Allow Mario to Summon Sand Toads to increase the size of his Attacks (How high
the attack goes is up to to how good you can preform the summoning, Highest attack up is 50) - Cost:
        1 Star Energy Container
Indigo Star Key - Allows Mario to cast a tidal wave and deal 20 damage to enemies (Every Mario gains
another Star Key the attack power is raised by 20 to a maximum of 100 damage) - Cost: 2 Star Energy
        Containers
Purple Star Key - Mario plants a jade vine seed and uses the Purple Star Key to accelerate its growth to
trap the enemies in jade flowers emerging from the vine for 3 turns (If Mario can preform the
summoning to an excellent rank, the trap will last for 18 turns) - Cost: 3 Star Energy Containers
Green Star Key - Mario can summon a painting and use the Green Star Key to increase it and call out
lots of Boos, confusing enemy attacks for 5 turns (If Mario can increase it to an excellent rank, the
Boos can confuse the enemies for 15 turns or even scare them away) - Cost: 4 Star Energy Containers

Blue Star Key - Mario can summon as storm that can rain down huge icicles and hail that deals 15
damage to all enemies (If Mario can perform an excellent storm call, the attack power is raised to a
maximum 225) - Cost: 5 Star Energy Containers
Red Star Key - Allows Mario to rain down a series of stars that deal 70 damage (210 if excellent ranked)
        - Cost: 6 Star Energy Containers
Star Seal Badge - Decreases the amount of Star Energy Containers needed to activate Star Key Power by
half, plus all attack damage to Mario from enemies ricochets back to said enemy, protecting Mario from harm
and raising his attack and defense by 10.

PIT OF 100 TRIALS BACKGROUND
After Chapter 6: - Cold Times, Cold Times are Coming, a trouble appears in the trouble center (that's right, the trouble center comes back!), from an unknown source talking about a problem of a few missing items, through will elaborate more if accepted. If Mario & Co. accepts this task, the trouble manager, Shade D., tells them to find the troubled one is through a cryptic message:
To find the one with the trouble now, you must search the winds with evil's howl.
Approach the falls beneath the cloak, block it so the words can be spoke.
Enter the mouth of the demon, and you may find the troubled one, the guardian freeman.
If Mario is able to decipher the message (Which can be easily done by placing the map in the fountain anytime after you've done it during any chapter transition), the location is revealed to be beneath Windy Cape, through it is impossible to get behind the waterfall, so Mario & Co. will have to use BumpTina's Slide ability to break across a series of boulders atop Mount Koopa Spine to block the mouth of the waterfall. Once blocked, Mario & Co. can enter ...........THE PIT OF 100 TRIALS!!!!!!!!!!!

OPTIONAL ADVENTURE: - The Pit of 100 Trials
After entering, Mario & Co. are 'greeted' by a red, armored Dooplighost, and by greeted, I mean meet a sleeping Dooplighost in a chair inside a cave next to a large pit. Questioning why there's a Dooplighosts and a large pit, Mario & Co. decide to wake the guard up, and do so thanks to Mario's good old hammer. Waking up, the Dooplighost first comments on the rude awaking, but, after Mario says he's here to answer his trouble (Mario can enter the pit's entrance anytime after chapter 6, but will only be able to enter the pit if the trouble is answered, the resulting conversation has the Dooplighost saying that he must leave, and if Mario refuses, it will engage in a battle, with the Dooplighost's HP 10x the amount Mario has with attacks that could reduce all of Mario's current HP to 1, so that Mario could have a chance to escape), and the Dooplighost introduces himself as Doopliguard, the guardian of the pit.

He explains his trouble; having guarded this pit for 500 years, he has gotten bored, so he created a secret stash to hide a few special items of his. But then, one day or night (he's been guarding the pit so long without going outside he doesn't know what day it is or if it's day or night), he accidentally slipped on a banana peel he had lying around and his stash feel into the pit. He would go down there, but the pit itself is prison for those infected with a dark power (through he doesn't mention where said dark power is though), and the further down you go, the stronger those ones are, and if Doopliguard be defeated, then the seal of the Pit Guardian is broken and the monsters could escape and reek havoc. He tells them that even through his power is strong, he can only keep said power as long as he remains between the pit and the outside world, further risking the chances of the seal being broken, so only someone else could claim the stash, which is why he placed the trouble in the trouble center.

Once again, Mario is given the option to accept or refuse the trouble, through having already accepted the trouble at the trouble center, even if Mario refuses, he can still accept anytime he wants to,and the pathway to the pit is opened. Down there, Mario encounters enemies from previous chapters, through they are much more stronger and have a dark aura around them, their attack power is doubled, their defense is up by 2, and their HP is tripled, making extra dangerous than normal enemies. Through just like the pit in PMTTYD and the pits in SPM, every tenth part of the pit is safe, having protected through the seal and carries a warp pipe back to the beginning. Once Mario reaches the 50th part of the pit, Mario & Co. discover Dooplighost's stash, containing rare Mushrooms, like several Blooming Flower Mushrooms, which restores Mario's HP and FP to the max, rare badges, like the Double Smash Badge, which doubles Mario's attack power and can allow him to attack twice in one turn, which can make up to three attacks each turn, and a whole lot of chocolate, since, once you return it, Doopliguard explains he has a huge sweet tooth.

From there you can choose to return it or carry on to part 100, or to return to the top. If Mario returns to the top, the trouble is completed, and Doopliguard offers five things to Mario from the chest containing his stash as thanks. If, IF, you have completed chapter 8 before accepting his trouble, then after returning Doopliguard's stash to him, he informs you that he actually has two stashes, and he lost both into the pit, and since you recovered the first one at the halfway point, then it means the second fell much further, and he offers you a second trouble, to recover the second stash. Since Mario will obviously continue onward, Mario & Co. continue on, not finding the stash anywhere, until they reach the 100th part, the bottom of the pit. There, the second stash is found right in front of the warp pipe, but as soon as Mario appraches it, a black orb appears around it and locks it away. Mario & Co. then notice a red orb on a small altar chained up in rainbow coloured chains with stars on the lock. As Mario & Co. approach the orb and question why it's there, evil eyes open on it, and a shadow appears around the orb, as it calls up a demonic dragon head, triggering a battle sequence as the Dragon head lets out a roar of pure evil. During the fight, the head and the orb each have their own attack power, the head attacks every turn, while the orb charges up a huge blast, though after the head is defeated, the orb cuts up any charging it does to re-spawn the head. After the orb reaches halfway of health, the battle ends, and, whether or not the head is defeated when the halfway point is reached, the head automatically re-spawns alongside two dragon hands and wings, re-engaging the battle, making it four times as difficult.

Soon (if you're lucky to win or not), the orb is defeated, and the beast is killed. Mario & Co. then return to the entrance, and then whether or not this is still your first time in the pit or for your second trouble, two conversations occur between Doopliguard and you, both end the same way. If it's still for Doopliguard's first trouble, then he thanks Mario for retrieving his stash, and is then amazed that he got his second stash when Mario didn't even know about it, while it's for the second, Doopliguard thanks Mario for retrieving the stash and once again offers five things from the stash, since it contains the same as the first, through he only offer the five things from the first stash even if you return with both. Both conversations end the same, with Doopliguard asking where he got it, and once he learns it fell into the bottom of the pit, he asks how Mario got it, and Mario reveals he defeated a red, glowing orb. Doopliguard is in utmost shock, and reveals that the dark power that corrupted those in the pit, the power that was separated from an evil king and gained sentience as an uncontrollable monster, and the reason for the pit being made. Doopliguard reveals that his task was to guard the pit until a hero arrived who could destroy the power of the evil king, of which now it has been completed, his task is now complete (though the creatures in the pit still remain, they just can't get since the small, insignificant portions of the monstrous power keeps them from leaving), and gives him a badge he made using a piece of the pit's seal, the Star Seal Badge. Before Mario leaves (after he has beaten the boss), Doopliguard asks one last thing of Mario; now that his task is complete, and having wasted 500 years of his life, he wishes to once more see the world, so he asks if he can accompany Mario, becoming Mario's new partner. Of course he can be recruited anytime after chapter 6, but if you want to see his epilogue, you have to defeat the secret boss before chapter 8.

Thus that is the Pit of 100 Trials, hoped you enjoyed, and get ready for the finale!!!!!!!

*P.S. the character with this * is not my own creation, he was created by McQueen-Mario on Fantendo as his main character for his fan-made series McBoo's Mansion. I just borrowed him and a few others for this story, but I suggest you check his work out, it's really good.
