CHAPTER 3/CHAPTER 4 TRANSITION
After a tropical adventure by saving the Mushroom Gulf from Bowser Jr., Mario, Kammy Koopa, Black Ninjakoopa, GoomBert, and new member of their company, Cocoaknow, return to Toad Town and place the map into the fountain. Suddenly a small flower appears in a mysterious lake beneath Windy Cape surrounded by flowers. Going down to the bottom of Windy Cape, all Mario and Co. see only the seas of the Mushroom Gulf. Figuring someone in Toad Town might know something about the field of flowers near the lake, but, as they near the docks, Smar T. the smartest Toad in town asks for their help in gaining parts for his rocket. After acquiring the necessary parts, Smar T. asks the group of five to give them to him in the back, where they meet Toadette, Smar T.'s neighbor, and, deciding that she might know something about the field of flowers they go to ask her, but while moving across her garden, Mario steps onto a flower, angering her and causing to be hit all the way back to Windy Cape. After returning to Toad Town, Kammy Koopa tells Mario that it is possibly better to find another way through Toadette's Garden, and ask her about the field. After accomplishing this puzzling task, Mario and Co. ask her about the field, and Toadette is astonished, as the map shows Flower Fields, a hidden land populated by Bulb-Ulbs and Piranha Plants, but the gateway has never been discovered and is believed not to exist. However Kammy's magic detects gateway magic in Toadette's willow tree and asks about, which Toadette says has been there since she set up her garden, which was just as Kammy suspected, as  she tells Mario that she remembers seeing a tree in the Toad Town area before they first placed in the fountain. deciding to test it out by the legend of the gateway, Mario and Co. seek out three Bulb-Ulb seeds in Windy Hills, the Koopahara Desert, and the Missing Isle. Returning from a successful hunt for the seeds, Mario plants them and it causes them to grow quite quickly and open up a hole in the tree, and walk through the gateway.

Chapter 4: - Like a Wiltering Blossom
Exiting out of another willow tree, Mario and Co. discover that not only can this tree talk, but it is also the source of all Bulb-Ulbs and the guardian of the Flower Fields gateway, the Tree of Blossoming Flowers. He explains that Flower Fields is a sacred land of flowers, but the Piranha Plants have revolted after their Leader, Petey Piranha, grew jealous of the Bulb-Ulbs, and now him and ever Piranha Plant have turned into a sort of Poisonous Goop Plant, and have began to take over and poison the Fields, and even Kidnap his daughter Sapling Bulb-Ulb, the next Tree of Blossoming Flowers, and her sisters Sun and Rose, the leader of their respective parts of Flower Fields. Mario and Co. ask about Windy Lake and the Star Key there, which he tells them was once filled with the most beautiful flowers and lead over by a Bulb-Ulb even older then himself, but is now full of nothing but the poisonous goop and blocked by Petey's minions. He could get them into the lake, but it would require the three flower stones his daughters hold, and if Mario can rescue them, he can use the stones to open up the pathway to Windy Lake.

Deciding the best place for the Bulb-Ulb sisters to be kept captured is the Piranha Plant Field, Mario and Co. traverse the fields, but, just as they arrive in the Piranha Plants Field, they discover a Bulb-Ulb with a jade flower under attack by Poison Piranha Plants. After saving the Bulb-Ulb, Mario and Co. are attack by a much bigger Piranha Plant with spikes, which they believe to be Petey Piranha. After a tough mini-boss battle, they learn from the Piranha Plant itself that it is not Petey Piranha, but rather one of his commanders, with Petey Piranha actually being in Windy Lake. While trying to see if the Bulb-Ulb is okay, Mario and Co. discover that she carries no memory of her past, only her name, Jade. After Mario's heroic deeds to save her from the Poison Piranha Plants, and because she has important information on Sun, Rose, and Sapling, she joins up with Mario and Co. so she can help them get the Star Kay and they can help her find out her past.

With both Jade's distract ability to lure away the Piranha Plants and her Information about the location, Mario and Co. are able to rescue the three Bulb-Ulb sisters from each of the three of their fields: Sunflower Field, Rose Field, and Daisy Field. With the rescue of each of them and the gaining of their Flower Stones, Mario and Co. return to the Seed Field, where the Tree of Blossoming Flowers, and he opens up the gateway, which Jade explains is strikingly familiar to her memory. As they cross through Windy Lake, they find the lake covered with Poisonous Goop and dried up vines, which Jade feels a connection to and tells the others that the vines would probably lead to the source and the Purple Star Key. They eventually reach the center, and discover the Purple Star Key Spewing out the Poisonous Goop, but as Mario and Co. reach to get it, the spewer closes and it reveals that it is Petey Piranha, who had eaten the Purple Star Key and is the source of the Poisonous Goop and had used Windy Lake to spread it throughout Flower Fields.

Petey then uses his Poison to spew Mario and Co. all the way back to the Seed Field. The Tree of Blossoming Flowers explains that without the native Jade vines to help (Which like a lot of other things, begins to jog Jade's memory), Petey Piranha is too strong to defeat. However, he tells them if they can get the sun's rays from Sunflower Field, clear water from a small spring in Rose Field, clearing herbs from Daisy Field, they can mix together an antidote to the Poisonous Goop and clean up to lake to weaken Petey's Strength. After getting all three things, including Toadette's help to make the antidote, Mario and Co. discover they require the Jade Vine's anti poison pollen, which is impossible because all the Jade Vines have wiltered, and the Bulb-Ulb that produced them is missing. That is, until the Tree of Blossoming Flowers finally recognizes Jade, which is mainly due to her shyness and his old age, and explains to everyone that she is the Purple Star Key's protector, and she finally regains her memories. Jade explains that Petey attack her and stole the key and ate it to gains it's power to get revenge on the Bulb-Ulbs, as it can grant the power to give any plant enhanced growth abilities, but because he was using it for the wrong use, its power got corrupted and poisoned Petey. But because of his Piranha Plant nature, instead of making him wilter, it turned his pollen into a corrupting poisonous goop that drove him mad and he poisoned the entire lake and all the Piranha Plants. He then sent out all the Poison to make the flowers wilter instead of bloom, starting with Jade. But instead of making her wilter, possibly due to her long lifespan and her Jade Vine's ability to counterattack poisons, it only made her lose her memory, even with a large amount as she is the center of the jade vines, so the massive amounts of poison into her system caused her to revert back to her Bulb-Ulb state.

With Jade's poison counterattack pollen, Mario and Co. are able to finish the antidote and take it to Windy Lake, where it clears up the Poisonous Goop, and enables new pathways so they can go undetected by Petey's own personal poisonous roots. They eventually reach the center of the lake again, but this time, under Petey's nose, just as he sending out commends to re-poison the lake. Mario and Co. attack Petey in his weaken state and, after an even tougher battle are able to prevail and Petey spits out the Purple Star Key. Petey's Poison Roots wilter, the Poison Piranha Plants return to normal, the Jade vines Bloom again, and both Petey and Jade return to normal. Petey apologizes as he only to get back at the other flowers as they have always been mean to the Piranha Plants, and he just wanted some respect and thus began to grow jealous, and stole the Purple Star Key not to take over fields, but to become a beautiful flower like Jade, but was turned around by a mysterious force telling him to use it for other purposes. Jade and the other Bulb-Ulbs forgive him and Mario and Co. tell him that who he spoke to must have been the King of Darkness underneath the Star Fountain, and explain the whole terrifying situation. Jade is horrified, as she lived through his rule and was understanding of the two Knight Brothers who gave the Star Key to her, and she turns back into her Bulb-Ulb form to help Mario and Co. get the other Star Keys, and puts her suspicions about the King, which is to why he would want to kidnap Peach, Luigi, and Bowser, behind her, and gives Mario the Star Key to continue their adventure.
YOU GOT A STAR KEY!!!!!!!
END OF CHAPTER!!!!!!!

CHAPTER 4: - INTERLUDE
Putting in the missing fountain in their clues, the Three unknowing captives decide to question "Toadsworth" further, that is, until Luigi trips and rips off "Toadsworth's" face, revealing to his horrified onlookers that he is a sort of Dark Blob. The Blob escapes and, as the Three pursue, they discover all the Toads are black blobs as well, which they determine to be shape-sifters. Following one "Toad" into the Toad Town Sewers, they find themselves once more in the mysterious catacombs, and try to avoid detection from other "Toads" and "Koopas"(Detection Mini-Game). After reaching a mysterious prison like area with strange tendrils of black goo, they find two Black Blobs, one of them being the one they were tailing, talking, and discover that not only are they escaped prisoners, the black tendrils giving them an illusion of being back in Toad Town and the Mushroom Kingdom, but the Blobs are servants created by the Evil King after his escape from the chains that weaken over time, and that they lie behind the Under Gate beneath the Star Fountain. They also overhear the servants revealing the name of their captor, Shadolance. Suddenly, a huge booming voice of darkness reveals Bowser, Peach, and Luigi's position and restates them into their fantasy. He then places Bowser and Peach under heavy security so they won't escape again and Mario can arrive without a hitch to open up the Under Gate and free him. He then hands over Luigi's unconscious Body to mysterious person, also a king, as a peace offering for the king's loyalty to Shadolance, as the King has quite a history with Luigi. But little does Shadolance know that this King posses the Green Star Key, and Mario will come for it, causing Shadolance's plan to down-spiral.
